As High Commissioner of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana in India I am very pleased to welcome you to the new website of the Guyanese High Commission in New Delhi. I hope it will prove to be a user-friendly way to access useful information, news and content about Guyana whether you are a Guyanese at home, in India or elsewhere, a visitor, tourist or businessperson.
On September 21st, 2016 I presented credentials from the President and People of Guyana to the former President of India Shri. Pranab Mukherjee thereby becoming the fifth Guyanese High Commissioner to India. Having previously worked in academia, the oil industry and high finance I looked forward to the challenge of bringing that background of experience to bear on Guyana’s diplomatic objectives & mission abroad.
In the event I must report that is has been a real pleasure to be serving Guyana’s interest during this time of extraordinary change in the sub-continent. The Republic of India is experiencing rapid and sustained economic, political and cultural development as it transitions from a regional power to a global player. Its storied history of democracy, diversity and tolerance has evolved into an increasingly persuasive ‘soft power’ as the nation increasingly looks outwards into our modern, millennial era.
We at the Guyana High Commission will work to build on the strong historical, ethnic and cultural ties that exist between our two Commonwealth nations to forge increasingly friendly, bilateral relations for the 21st century.
I hope you will enjoy using the new GHC website and find within it something that is useful and complementary to our existing, active social media channel on Facebook (www.facebook.com/GuyanaHC.Ind/).
